What is Pybites Books?

Pybites Books is a reading tracking app built by Pybites. It helps you track what you read, discover new books, and connect with other readers.

Is it free?

Yes! The core features—tracking books, following readers, Goodreads import, and public profiles—are free. Premium features like custom lists and theme customization require a subscription.

Where does the book data come from?

We use the Google Books API for book metadata (titles, authors, descriptions, covers). If a cover isn't available from Google, we try Open Library as a fallback.

Account

How do I create an account?

Visit the registration page and enter your email and password. You'll receive a verification email to activate your account.

I didn't receive the verification email

Check your spam folder. If it's not there, try registering again with the same email—you'll get a new verification link.

Can I change my username?

Not currently. If you need to change your username, contact us at [email protected].

How do I delete my account?

Books

A book I want isn't in the search results

We search Google Books, which has most published books. If a book isn't found, try:

Searching by ISBN
Using the author's name
Checking the exact title spelling

How do I remove a book from my list?

Go to the book's detail page and click Remove from My Books.

Can I track audiobooks or ebooks?

Yes! A book is a book. Track it however you read it.

How much is Premium?

$3/month, or $30/year (2 months free!).

Why is there a Premium Subscription?

Pybites Books is a privacy-first platform that doesn't sell user data. The subscription helps cover running costs, and in return we offer additional features as a thank you.

But other book platforms are free. Why pay for this one?

When a product is completely free, you are the product. Other platforms harvest your data, reading habits, and demographics to sell or use in their algorithms. We don't do that.

What does Premium include?

Custom Lists - Create additional reading lists beyond the defaults, public or private
Theme Customization - Adjust the color scheme to make it your own
Premium Badge - A crown icon on your profile showing you're a supporter

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit cards through Stripe.

Can I get a refund?

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Nothing! Your books and lists are preserved. Custom lists become inactive but aren't deleted. You can resubscribe anytime.

Privacy

Do you sell my data?

No. We don't sell, share, or monetize your personal data in any way.

What data do you collect?

Account information (email, username)
Books you track and your reading activity
Optional: Goodreads export data during import

Can I make my profile private?

Your reading activity is public, but you can make lists private.
